Salt and road debris are constantly thrown at them while driving, compromising the exterior of the door. Water makes its way through your door’s weatherstripping and pools in the bottom of the door, causing it to rust from the inside out. Any body panel taking this type of abuse from both sides is eventually going to break down and need to be replaced.
The good news is that if you catch it in time, you can replace the lower door skin, or the lower door panel, instead of having to replace the entire door. All of our door skins and inner door panels are stamped steel. The stamping process starts with a 3D scan of an OEM part which produces an OEM-like fitment.
The old panel will need to be cut out so that the new one can be welded in its place. Each panel has a protective (EDP, Galvanized, etc.) coating for additional corrosion protection. The e-coating leaves a black finish that can be scuffed and painted over.
